I have wonderful and dear memories of John. The first time I met him he came into Bramble Schoolroom because he'd heard the words 'tea and biscuits' being mentioned!! Some people just leave an inprint on your heart and John will always be one of those people to me. I remember how much comfort he gave to both children and parents on Bramble Ward, always with so much unconditional kindness and dignity and his philosophy about death was always very positive; I remember him conducting a funeral for a little girl who'd passed away on Bramble ward. I sat through the funeral with awe and adoration at him because he made it so incredibly special for the family and parents, giving them comfort and peace. I asked if he would be able to do my wedding before he became ill which sadly he was unable to do. He passed away on my wedding day which makes me think that perhaps he was there in spirit looking down... I would like to think so. I feel very lucky that my path crossed with Johns and my heart felt wishes go to Rosemary and the rest of John's family and this sad time. Vanessa Fortune
